Meet your neighbors and celebrate our community with Historic Germantown and Germantown United CDC, as we kick-off the Second Saturday series, when all 16 Historic Germantown sites are open monthly (May thru October), and highlight the many thriving cultural, civic and business activities that make Germantown an exciting place to live and visit. Come celebrate the blooming of Wyck’s remarkable rose garden! The Wyck Rose Garden dates to the 1820’s and is widely recognized as the oldest rose garden in original plan in America, with 80+ cultivars of historic roses. Learn about the garden’s history and learn about caring for a rose garden today. The historic Wyck house will also be open for guided tours and the entire Wyck property, including the working Home Farm, will be open for self-guided tours, picnicking, etc.
Saturday, September 9 | Philadelphia Honey Festival | 10:00 – 4:00
The Philadelphia Honey Festival at Wyck is our sweet finish to the festival season and offers a variety of activities that celebrate and educate about our important friend, the honey bee! This always-popular event includes honey tastings, extractions, presentations, bee-bearding, mead making and tasting, and much more! Now in its 8th year, the Philadelphia Honey Festival spans three days, beginning with a Friday Honey Happy Hour at Glen Foerd on the Delaware, then Saturday at Wyck, and finally Sunday at Bartram’s Garden! (Off-site) Join Wyck, our friends from Cliveden, and the other sites of Historic Germantown as we celebrate the annual re-enactment of the battle of Germantown!
