Unleash Your Voice: Lessac Voice Workshop

with Roger Ainslie

In this one-day workshop, Lessac-certified teacher Roger Ainslie will help you unleash your voice’s optimal, healthy, and true quality and maximum expressiveness.  You were born with a great voice– it’s true!  But social conditioning, among other factors, has taken its toll on your voice over time.  It’s time to free that beautiful voice of yours to find its original, natural resonance and dynamics.  Explore the methods developed by Arthur Lessac– a mix of mindfulness and playful discovery– and you’ll realize how connecting different body and voice energies is not only healthy, it’s fun!  Although it’s important to connect your voice and your body, you need not be a top athlete to participate.  And, although it was developed principally for actors, this work can help anybody in any profession learn to communicate more effectively in their life and work.  Anyone can do this.  Do you know that relaxing, energizing feeling of a good full-body yawn to shake off a long car ride?  Do you know the pleasure of humming your favorite tune to yourself?  Of savoring the smell of your favorite food?  Then you are qualified for this workshop.  You are capable of finding your own true voice, literally and figuratively!

Roger Ainslie is a professional actor, voice teacher, and dialect coach.  A graduate of Northwestern University, he has done a ton of regional theatre, independent films, and television.  His television credits include House MDiCarly, and House of Cards, acting in principle roles opposite the likes of Emmy-winner Hugh Laurie and Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey.  He has also been teaching at various levels for over twenty years in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.  After getting his MFA from the University of Virginia, he recently decided to move back to the Philadelphia area where he grew up, though he is still the dialect coach for Virginia Repertory Theatre.  He is currently a professor of acting at Rowan University and a certified teacher of the Lessac Voice and Body Pedagogy.
